1. Be respectful
Treat other members with courtesy. Disagreement is allowed, but personal abuse, intimidation, harassment and repeated provocation are not.
2. No hate or discrimination
Do not attack or demean people because of race, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or another protected characteristic.
3. No threats or encouragement of harm
Threats, incitement, glorification of serious violence and encouragement of self-harm are not permitted.
4. No sexual exploitation
Sexual content involving anyone under 18, grooming, coercion, sexual blackmail and non-consensual intimate content are strictly prohibited.
5. Protect personal information
Do not publish another person's private information, photographs, messages or contact details without permission. Never post passwords, bank details, identification documents or precise home addresses.
6. Chatroom Safety and Logging
To help protect our community, public chatroom conversations are recorded in secure server logs.
These logs may be reviewed by authorised NatterFly staff where reasonably necessary to investigate reports of abuse, harassment, threats, safeguarding concerns, spam, fraud or other breaches of these Community Rules.
Members should assume that anything posted in a public chatroom may be retained for moderation and security purposes. NatterFly does not provide private messaging through chatrooms, whispers or hidden one-to-one chat.
Where required by law, or where reasonably necessary to protect users or investigate suspected criminal activity, relevant information may be disclosed to law enforcement or other competent authorities.
7. Messaging and Connections
Messaging is available only through the separate Messaging Centre after both members have agreed to connect. Do not use connection requests or messages to harass, pressure, threaten, scam or repeatedly contact someone who does not want contact.
Members may decline connection requests, end connections, turn connection requests off or block unwanted contact at any time.
8. No impersonation
Do not impersonate another person, organisation, radio station, group, moderator, sysop or administrator. Reserved or misleading usernames, group names or room names may be changed or removed.
9. Keep chatrooms and groups on topic
Follow the chatroom or group topic and any reasonable room-specific or group-specific rules. Repeated disruption, flooding, deliberate derailing or posting unrelated content is not allowed.
10. No spam
Do not repeatedly post the same message, mass-promote websites, send unsolicited advertising or use automated accounts to flood chatrooms, groups, discussions, polls or events.
Relevant links and radio station promotion are welcome in appropriate areas when shared reasonably and with permission where required.
11. No scams or deceptive activity
Fraud, phishing, fake giveaways, misleading investment schemes, romance scams and attempts to obtain money, personal information or account access are prohibited.
12. Illegal and dangerous content
Do not use NatterFly to arrange, promote or assist illegal activity. Do not distribute malware, stolen data or instructions intended to compromise systems or accounts.
13. Images, albums, scripts and downloads
Only upload photographs, album content, scripts, downloads or other material that you are entitled to share.
Uploaded content must not contain malware, hidden tracking, credential theft or deliberately harmful material. Descriptions should accurately explain important requirements and risks.
Do not upload photographs of another person without their permission where permission would reasonably be expected.
14. Radio station listings
Station listings must be genuine and submitted by someone authorised to represent the station. Station operators remain responsible for broadcasts, licences, websites and third-party services.
15. Room ownership
Room owners may set additional reasonable rules, appoint room staff and moderate their room. Additional rules must not conflict with the site-wide rules.
Room owners and staff must not misuse their permissions to harass members, unfairly target individuals or encourage prohibited activity.
16. Group ownership and management
Group owners and managers may set additional reasonable rules, approve or remove members, manage invitations and moderate discussions, polls, events and albums.
Group rules and management decisions must not conflict with the site-wide Community Rules.
Group owners and managers must not misuse their position to harass members, collect unnecessary personal information, unfairly exclude people because of a protected characteristic or encourage prohibited activity.
Ownership of a group does not prevent NatterFly administrators or moderators from reviewing, restricting, renaming, transferring, closing or deleting a group where reasonably necessary.
17. Group discussions, polls and events
Discussions, replies, polls and events must be relevant to the group and must follow both the group's rules and the site-wide Community Rules.
Polls must not be used to harass, humiliate or target another person. Events must not be used to promote illegal, dangerous, fraudulent or deliberately misleading activity.
18. Public and private groups
Public group content may be visible to visitors and other members. Private or restricted groups provide controlled access but should not be treated as completely confidential.
Group members must not copy or publicly repost private group discussions, photographs or personal information without permission.
19. Moderator instructions
Follow reasonable instructions from NatterFly moderators and administrators. Concerns about moderation should be handled through the appropriate support process rather than disrupting public chatrooms, groups or discussions.
20. Reporting misuse
Submit honest reports with enough information to identify the issue. Include the relevant username, chatroom, group, discussion, event, poll or album where possible.
Do not misuse reporting tools because of ordinary disagreements or to deliberately cause trouble for another member.
21. Enforcement
Action taken by NatterFly may include:
- A reminder or warning.
- Removal or editing of content.
- Removal from a chatroom or group.
- Temporary chatroom or group restrictions.
- Removal of discussions, polls, events or albums.
- Removal of room or group management permissions.
- Closure or deletion of a chatroom or group.
- Temporary account suspension.
- Permanent account closure.
- Referral to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Serious behaviour may result in immediate action without a prior warning.
22. Avoiding enforcement
Creating replacement accounts, using another person's account, rejoining a group after removal or otherwise attempting to bypass a restriction may result in further accounts being restricted or removed.
23. Changes to these rules
The Community Rules may be updated as NatterFly develops and new community features are introduced. Members are expected to follow the current version.
