Is there a NatterFly app?
NatterFly does not currently have a dedicated mobile app.
You can use NatterFly on a phone or tablet through your web browser, but NatterFly has been designed primarily as a proper live chatroom experience and is best enjoyed on a laptop or computer.
Why is NatterFly better on a larger screen?
NatterFly is all about live public chatrooms. When a room gets busy, lots of people can be talking at the same time and the conversation can move quickly.
On a small phone screen, that can mean messages are constantly moving up the screen and it can become harder to keep track of the conversation.
A laptop or computer gives you much more room to follow the chat, see who else is in the room and use the room features without everything being squeezed onto a small display.
Can I still use NatterFly on my phone?
Yes. NatterFly works on mobile devices, so you're welcome to drop into a room and have a natter from your phone.
For longer conversations or busy chatrooms, however, we recommend using a laptop or computer for the best experience.
Why not just make an app?
We don't want to create an app simply for the sake of having one.
NatterFly is about bringing back the feel of proper public chatrooms: entering a room, seeing who's there and joining a live conversation.
Putting the same experience inside an app wouldn't solve the main limitation of using a busy chatroom on a small screen.
Could there be a NatterFly app in the future?
Never say never!
NatterFly is brand new and will continue to evolve as the community grows. If we introduce an app in the future, we want it to offer something genuinely useful and improve the NatterFly experience, rather than simply putting the website inside an app.
Our recommendation
Use whichever device is convenient for you, but if you're settling in for a proper evening of chatting, grab your laptop or computer, enter a room and enjoy NatterFly the way it was designed to be used.
