Blocking Members and How We Monitor Abuse

Learn how blocking works on NatterFly, how your privacy is protected, and how repeated blocks can help our moderation team identify patterns of inappropriate behaviour.

Blocking Members and How We Monitor Abuse

NatterFly is designed for friendly conversation, meeting new people and making genuine connections. Every member has the right to decide who they do and do not wish to interact with.

If another member makes you uncomfortable, sends unwanted messages or you simply do not wish to interact with them, you can block them.

Your blocks are private

When you block another member, your individual block is private. NatterFly does not publish who has blocked whom, and we do not display members' block counts publicly.

However, NatterFly Sysops and administrators can see when an account has been blocked by multiple members.

Why do we monitor repeated blocks?

A single block does not necessarily mean that somebody has done anything wrong. People may choose not to interact for many different reasons.

However, if an account is repeatedly being blocked by different members, this can indicate a pattern of behaviour that may need to be reviewed by our moderation team.

This helps us identify accounts that may be using NatterFly in ways that make other members uncomfortable or that go against the spirit and rules of the community.

Respect other members

NatterFly should not be used to repeatedly send unsolicited messages, pressure people into connecting, attempt to bypass somebody's decision to block you, or establish connections simply to send abusive, inappropriate or unwanted messages.

If somebody does not want to interact with you, please respect their decision and move on.

Repeated blocks may lead to a review

Being blocked does not automatically result in action against your account, and we do not suspend or terminate accounts simply because one person has chosen to block them.

Where we identify a significant or repeated pattern of blocks, our Sysops or administrators may review the account and any relevant reports or moderation information available to us.

If that review identifies persistent inappropriate behaviour, harassment, abuse or misuse of NatterFly, appropriate action may be taken. This can include a warning, restrictions, suspension or permanent termination of the account.

Please remember: Blocking is there to give members control over who they interact with. Respecting another person's boundaries is an important part of keeping NatterFly friendly and welcoming for everyone.
